The Emoji Movie 2017

Like many films featuring a new extinction event suddenly undone by total recreation of the annihilated species, this movie has a ship of Theseus problem.
Are the emojis at the end the same emojis who had previously been reduced to their component code? Did the replacement of their component material change the creatures, or is it the same princess before and after reconstruction?
Shockingly the emoji movie does not engage with this critical question and therefore the concluding emotions are mixed and unsatisfactory.

I don’t think it really engaged with the true horror Mickey experienced casually at the hands of everyone on the crew (with the possible exception on Nasha) and didn’t really earn the redemption of the numerous side characters that it seems to portray (which sure may be reality but didn’t leave me feeling satisfied)
