Shiny, atmospheric, unintentionally funny, unsatisfying.
When I saw the first teasers for Longlegs I was pretty intrigued, cause it looked like a mix of elements from Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon.
That's it, though.
That's the movie: a hodgepodge of Lambs and Red Dragon with some supernatural elements... Longlegs acts like a police procedural thriller and seems to hard commit to horror in the last minute, then doesn't justify it intentionally. If it's a set up for me to watch it again, it didn't work.
Cool protagonist, and okay creep factor.
I say read Red Dragon instead.
