so funny to watch these old comedy’s as an adult😂 my favorite part when i was kid was the stupid rob schneider “you can do it!” and watching it now that’s like easily one of the most unfunny parts of the movie hahaha. but anyways, man this is such a legendary kathy bates performance. and i love how in like every scene they play into the lore of water lmao

chock-full of insights about morality, blame, ego, empathy, etc. i’m not gonna get into all of it because everyone will see it slightly differently and in this case i don’t see that as a bad thing—ambiguity is the point of the film. ultimately, wires got crossed, shit got dark and complicated, but who’s really to say the official reason why. in the end, what they really want you to focus on is that a mom that doesn’t give up on…

i love this movie so much. it hypnotizes me each and every time i watch it. it takes me into this world of delirium and swagger which is like the weirdest combo on paper, but somehow just works on most every front. it’s like when you’re drunk and you’re confidence is increased because you don’t care about the consequences of things as much and you just let loose. that’s what this movie is to me. it’s really honest ass characters doing whatever they really feel like doing, fuck any second thought

Really good, the only thing is that I think it was too focused on being epic and some of that attention should’ve been placed into the main characters, like their psyches and tendencies and such cause you never really feel like you have a grasp on them the way you do in The Lighthouse and because of this, I think the emotional resonance of the film falls flat a little bit. There was a lot of people in the theater that were like what even just happened when I was walking out out of the theater and I honestly kind of knew what they meant
