This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
What a great opportunity to learn about the process of a conclave through this film. As someone who was raised Catholic, I’m surprised that this wasn’t part of my education in Catholicism, neither formal nor via church/family.
We learn that men are men, even if wearing a vestment and collar (which we’ve, unfortunately, come to learn over the years as truths have come out re:priests’ behaviors).
While not a riveting movie, it kept my attention due to the storyline and actors Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci.
I was surprised at the ending!
Shout out to Isabella Rossellini for making a big impact in a small role.
Be careful what you wish for, the grass is not always greener.
Applause goes to Adam Pearson. Did Oswald really call Guy “Edward” at the end?? Intentional or obvious since he was imprisoned? If the latter, does Oswald know the whole truth about Edward?
The gross part was the roach in Guy (Edward’s) coffee 🤢 Was that necessary Aaron Schimberg??!!
I love Amy Adams. Also, I’m glad I didn’t see this before I had children, as there wouldn’t be anyone calling me Mom today. 😁
Motherhood is hard, finding a balance is challenging (every single day), but it is very very rewarding (hence the ending - doing it again).
