  While par for the course from Ghibli, it's worth mentioning that the presentation is top notch. Acting, soundtrack, animation etc. And while rich with deeper themes, the story and characters miss most of the emotional beats throughout, and the fantastical other world shown gives me little reason to care for the characters which left me dissatisfied. Unlike other Ghibli movies, where all of these came together in a satisfying way.

  Or maybe I'm just stupid for not understanding.
  I don't know this movie just has me feeling empty.

  A must watch for any fan of animation. Miyazaki's directorial debut is a delight for the eyes, ears and soul. From the stunning visuals and music, to the delightful characters, this film is a spectacle to behold from start to finish.
