"Lucifer is the patron saint of the visual arts. Color, form--all these are the work of Lucifer."
    - Kenneth Anger

I finally finished watching this. I haven't written a review in a while. However, I would be doing this a disservice if I didn't share a bit about my thoughts. The Magick Lantern Cycle (2009), which compiles nine of Kenneth Anger's most recognizable shorts, is simply haunting. It's not something you understand, or rather, it's not something you try to…

I can't express how meaningful this short film is to me in mere words, but I can attempt to do it.

I found Angel (1957) while just looking at my YouTube recommended (possibly the only time YT recommended was a savior), and I found the imagery quite compelling so I gave it a watch, and all I can say is; masterpiece, I have now since watched it 5 more times or so, and each time it only gets better.

Probably the worst minute I've spent watching something, ever. Electrocuting an Elephant (1903) is the first snuff film ever invented, featuring an innocent elephant being electrocuted by 6,600 volts, killing it with smoke rising from its body, as a means of promoting the opening of Luna Park, making it the first ever trace of real-world violence on camera, ever.

This film did nothing for me but show me the absolutely disgusting animals humans can be.

Disgusting. Foul. I will never be watching this again, but it will be in the back of my mind, sadly, always reminding me that shit like this exists in the world.
