Beyond speechless. On repeated viewings the comedy of this disappears entirely and we are left with one of the bleakest portrayals off a psyche in decline.
We often wonder why facism has returned. Watching the The Mask we see how traditional media and modern social media can foster a sense of alienation from the ruling class, that allows for politician like Trump to amass power, even though they are the ruling class.
Ultimately a film about broken dreams and promises, one of the bleakest films I have ever seen.

O’malleys greatest work yet, incredible funny, sad and atmospheric in such an odd way, unlike any other film ever made, truly unique and boundary pushing. O’Malley and Schoenbrun are the two artist pushing audiovisuals into a new era, and I love to see it happening in real time.

Like all of Sembenes films this is very angry. A film that is toe curlingly cringe in the worst way. You hate to see everything happen. But an important film on the corrupting power of money, the remnants of colonialism and as always with Semebene a critical feminist view on gender roles.

Some of the wildest shit you will ever hear and especially see. Like if Stan Brakhage made a GTA film. All men are assassins and all women are strippers. But also love is god. This fucking guy, pushing the boundary of cinema. Never in a billion years would the guys that invented the NASA cameras they used for this have thought it would be used to film twerking in a pool on a boat in the ocean, like damn!

Kind of contains spoilers, but you can’t really spoil a film like this.
Flawless film, absolutely perfect from start to end. There is no film like it. Like my two other favorites The Holy Mountain  and Playtime, it is an almost surreal film just because of its existence. Kubrick's sterility works perfectly for the materiel, everything is perfect and nothing feels out of place of half-assed, the cinematography is gorgeous and the 4K Blu-Ray really helps to show the colors…

Cool animation, though not really that good of an adaptation of the novella. It is more it’s own thing which focuses on one interpretation of the novella.
