I don't know what you're not getting. From the moment after rewinding the possession clips, everything Jack (and we) experience is under a state of hypnosis, much like the worm part. This state is broken after he stabs his wife/ Lilly. Like I said, they gave us a taste before going fully in, with the worms hypnosis, which is why the viewer trips alongside Jack, all the while he's actually causing a rampage on set. Chekhov's gun/ hypnosis, if you will.
