these beautiful autumn colours and the brisk light brought me loads memories and Laila Kinnuses song in the end was a fine choice by who ever chose it. are these proper criteria to rate a film? well maybe the other one could be!
This was my first proper introduction to the art of Hilma af Klint and I got to admit: I was deeply impressed! The film tackles its subject matter from multiple perspectives: Hilma as a person, her art, the parallels between her art and the scientific findings of the early 20th century, the metaphysical ideas of the era, her reception and her dismissal by art historians. It even digs deeper to mechanics of writing art history and how is it possible…
I really found this film entertaining and heart-warming. On the down side there was a whole lot of hassle which a part of me finds nerve-racking. The way all the characters were presented was sympathetic and compassionate: there were no good and ad guys. Instead there was a gradual deepening of comprehension for the characters (self-realisation), between the characters (the deepening relationships), and for the audience (life's joys, struggles, its complexity and the beauty of it all). The atmospheric wholesomeness was paralleled in the presentation of different age groups: all ages where included and each character brought a different spice to the richness story.
