The beginnings of Brangelina! For how many fight scenes there were I didn’t get bored of them, but probably because I watched the movie in parts. I’m kind of over the superhero/incredible fighter who has trauma archetype though, same thing with Deadpool. It did offer maybe (2005) an ahead of its time gender perspective but I can’t decide if it was actually productive or not. I feel like I’m also starting to grasp some film techniques like the quintessential slow motion come to Jesus fight scene with old like freeing music playing in the background

National Lampoon's European Vacation 1985
This movie made me LOL many times. Of course there was quite a bit of outdated humor and issues with fat phobia, racist stereotypes, and normalized poor treatment of women. Heads up there also is some nudity. But worth a lighthearted comical watch!

The Da Vinci Code 2006
This was quite the thriller!! It made me ponder some actual religious concepts. I think a little disclaimer perhaps about what was true and false might have been nice, I know it is a fictional movie but still. It was fun to watch it in advance of going to Europe. But I probably would not want to watch it again because it was too scary lol

Gladiator 2000
I can see why this is a cult classic! Joaquin phoenix is SUCH A GOOD ACTOR (bold claim I know) but seeing him in this and Napoleon just really he is a pro at being creepy and evil. Also good coincidence - Marcus Aurelius in a major character in this and in the holdovers, paul gives Tully and mrs. Lamb a copy of his book “meditations”! The movie does make me feel disgusted about hedonism (an idea I’ve been thinking about a lot lately) and human nature. Also I have gotten enough violent scenes for now and am in no rush to watch gladiator 2 😌
