  Jesus Christ. Immediately after watching I thought I didn’t like it, but after sitting with it I realize I just didn’t like how it made me feel. Which is the point…. Love a movie that asks the audience uncomfortable questions and doesn’t attempt to answer them. Powerhouse performances from every single actor. I know a lot of attention is on Charlie Melton’s performance, which is completely deserved, but we should not overlook how great Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman are. …

  This is such a personal movie to me that I can’t even look at it critically. One of my all time favorite needle drops in film, the tension just rising throughout the movie being broken by a family finally letting loose. Watching a little girl develop awareness of how much appearance and weight dictates life is so heartbreaking. Paul Dano is so incredible in this and his scenes with Steve Carrell are pitch perfect. Every casting choice is god tier.
