I’m still thinking about the meaning of this film 24 hours later. So many vibes on how so many of us at some point or another have used alcohol beyond a benign social connection with friends. Their experimentation made me laugh, cringe, and say “oh-oh” a lot. Comedian, yes. But Bo Burnham is so much more: talented musician, lyricist, cinematographer, lighting designer, creative, all-around ham, and introspective truth-teller. This film had me cracking up one minute (I’m a FaceTime with my mom tonight; white woman’s Instagram), and wanting to hold and comfort him through his isolation and self-doubt the next. This is art at its finest. Authentic, in your face, unapologetic. Wow. Brilliant.
