Forgot to review this when I saw it early, so I'm including it retroactively (have mercy lol).

Everything about this movie is perfect except for some of the sound/vocal mixing. I get live vocals are hard to blend with studio vocals, but maybe if the studio vocals weren't pitch-corrected and reverbed to hell, the live vocals would blend way better. Otherwise, no complaints. Full review of the story and entire project as a whole will probably come with Part 2, so stick around for a year, and I'll fully unpack it then. :)

I knew from the first time I saw the trailer that this movie would be nothing short of a triumph. I also knew that the film would expand on the inexplicable psychic bond between Count Orlok and Ellen that existed in the original, an opportunity which was absolutely NOT wasted. The film has subtle commentary on medical misogyny (and general misogyny), which makes you realize that what we consider evil is usually fought with yet another kind of evil. Everything…

Interesting plot with some cerebral themes and a few good laughs, though I wonder how many more edgy loner white guy hitman movies absolutely NEED to be made (especially when "In Bruges" does it better, almost every time). Also, how many more movies are we gonna see where said edgy hitman gets decked by someone like 2 times his size and still somehow get up? Bro should have been out like a light.

Reviewing this now because I finally got around to rewatching it, but gosh I forgot how great this movie is. The lighting and cinematography are absolutely dynamic and gorgeous, for starters. The score is incredibly moving, and I would happily dance to it an my wedding lmao. As for the story, it hits hard for the people who have fallen in love with the right person at the wrong time, and for people who wonder what might have been. It's a movie for those who are fearless about falling in love.
