how on earth does Todd Solondz write such insanely specific versions of human beings that we’ve all met before??
me: gosh I dunno… He’s like, all the women around him in his family coddle him and he’s become really self righteous and egomaniacal because of it, and is completely blind to how he’s perceived, but somehow his loneliness gravely impacts him and manifests it as a general… man-childness?

In a Glass Cage 1986
I stopped watching this because it made me feel so SO terrible, but not in a way that could've justified a higher rating.
I understand that its creating the framework for disturbing, exploitive, genre-breaking cinema, similarly along the lines of Salo and Come and See as others have stated, but this one is lost on me. I struggle to find deeper meaning in a way that resonates with me, and the pacing gave me a headache.
