    As with most philosophers, Alexander questions everything, ripping at the mirage of life before him to find its “ultimate truth”. His questions are less analytical and more continental, but regardless they’re still plagued with the discontent of existential dread and the ultimate lack of purpose he feels his life truly has. We see this reveal itself clearly when he goes to visit Maria. It’s very reminiscent of the madness we see in many of Dostoevsky's characters.
