Setting the Jewish dialogue aside, I found the cousins relationship to be a poignant reflection of the complicated dynamics and emotions that come with sharing time and space with family. It was both tragic and beautiful. I also loved the use of Chopin throughout.

As a kid, I definitely idolised Hepburn’s character in Funny Face. Now, as an adult, I can recognize the awkwardness in the romantic pairing and question why Ms. Hepburn would ever be considered a ‘funny face.’ But despite these reflections, I still find myself enchanted by the whimsical nostalgia of this classic rom-com musical.
