  Uma, my feral queen, I love you so. this feels like ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT’s wild, batshit, autistic little sister.

  a lot of the set up felt very repetitive & really wish this had got to the surreal hook way quicker but it’s so weird & wonderful once it gets there that the sheer delight of what you’re seeing unfold makes it worth the wait. the whimsical stop motion element is unbelievably charming & a refreshing tonal change from what would otherwise be normal VFX.

  also another lovely inclusion of the third-gender Hijra community that I fell in love with in Dev Patel’s MONKEY MAN.

  this is basically “it’s always two dumb bitches telling each other EXAACTLYYY” but the dumb bitches are a short top with a mullet & bisexual femme Hulk suffering from surreal steroid psychosis.

  needless to say I loved every second & special shoutout to the person who SQUEALED SO LOUDLY when Kristen & Katy first hook up, you were so real for that.

  this was even wilder & weirder than I thought & I also feel like no one is talking about just how raucously funny…

  I can't believe what I just watched. MONKEY MAN is literally Dev Patel & a gang of badass hijras (trans/3rd gender ppl) absolutely annihilating the corrupt police, politicians & religious leaders in one of the most thrilling, gorgeous, emotional, mythic action films I have ever seen.
