The fact that Brad Bird had The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and a Mission Impossible movie under his belt always sounded perplexing to me. One of these things is not like the other. What other director besides John Carpenter is able to tackle several different genres with ease across multiple films, from classic horror movies, to tremendously funny flicks like this one? Oh, Rob Reiner? Okay, bad question.
But anyway, I had a great time watching this movie. Making someone truly invisible on the big screen is pretty much impossible, as there will always be inconsistencies with the minute details and the fact that the feat has never and will never be achieved…

It's a great balance of humanity's darkness and an uplifting sense of wonder and curiosity. The fact that it's subtly stylized like a comic book allows the cinematography to utilize some nifty tracks that would be awkward in other areas of film. The son's acting is especially great; it's not every day you get to see a kid with chops like that.
Favorite sequence: the scene with the son pointing a gun at his father. This is what made me…
