The Rules of the Game 1939
saw this in theaters and afterwards these two people involved in putting on french plays had a talk thing and neither of them knew anything about the movie and the guy kept talking about how french films were so intelligent and americans never thought to build a plot around internal conflict and french playwrights struggle with the burden of having to write characters less intelligent than they are. the part of the movie where everything blows up is pretty awesome…

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story 2022
started soooo funny but when the madonna plot was going i feel like it kinda stopped having jokes and the premise was less fresh and the plot wasn’t compelling so my investment kinda dissolved. not to be no fun but that whole arc did feel kinda misogynistic and put me in a less goofy frame of mind. but it did make me laugh a lot so maybe i’m just sick and being a sourpuss

i feel like this is trying to do something interesting and i could feel part of my brain having fun playing with how the two parts fit together but the characters were both mean and boring and their dialog felt wayyy too on the nose and the whole vibe just felt misanthropic and aimlessly cynical and i was just not inspired to put in the effort
