Days of Heaven isn’t staged, it’s witnessed. Malick films with a detachment that resists interpretation. Never interfering, never explaining. No close-ups, no forced emotions. Just bodies in motion, gestures replacing dialogue, action replacing intent. Scenes begin mid-thought, end before resolution. Characters exist within the landscape rather than owning it. The camera does not impose, it rather observes.
