an absolutely phenomenal adaptation of what is perhaps the greatest modern story ever told. the rotoscoping adds an otherworldly and vibrant feel, and you feel like you can see the magic of middle earth onscreen. anthony daniels brings this already incredible masterpiece of cinema to legendary levels, with his portrayal of Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood. the conversation between Saruman and Gandalf in Orthanc and the reveal of Saruman's treachery is treated masterfully, doing justice to these two beings of great power and wisdom.
