Watched hungover in the midst of Fallas. Funny that people pretended this was a serious, ‘issues’ type movie in anyway. If you read it that way, then its a movie about submitting to the male gaze/patriarchy, and as soon as you rebel against that, you’re turned into a horrid blob monster and people kick you in the head until you explode. The ending is shot like it’s a cathartic revenge sequence, but all the blob-monster does is scream and shoot…

The Changeover 2017
Kind of cool this. Very kind of down-to-earth view of magic. I liked that it was filmed in the abandoned parts of Christchurch after the earthquake, quite a unique setting

The Mummy 1999
From September 2003 to December 2004, American troops occupied the site of the ancient city of Babylon, in modern day Iraq. The archaeological site was renamed Camp Alpha. Soldiers filled sandbags with fragments of brick engraved with ancient cuneiform script, dug trenches, installed barbed wire, and smashed statues of Marduk, the god of Babylon. They were likely inspired by the actions of the ‘heroes’ of this movie.

Searching 2018
Plane movie. This made me cry in the first five minutes, which is something Up never managed to do. It’s one of those films that takes place entirely on a computer screen, and the concept holds and is quite well done. There’s a thrilling scene where he resets his daughter’s passwords so he can log into her facebook. It is actually quite a touching story about a father’s love for his daughter and worth a watch.
