  i’m all for comedies embracing camp and having some dumb fun, but then cramming in the metaphor of “zombies = society because consumerism turns everyone into a mindless husk” is just so abominably cringe

  david foster wallace is one of those guys where you can’t help but just revere him and idolize him. even in his normal guy ways he’s a genius doing that normal stuff so it somehow seems more enlightened. probably my favorite parts were when they discussed this idea and how isolating it must be to be on the receiving end of that adoration. and then the brian eno slow mo dance at the end is simply perfection.

  also part of the incredibility of this movie to me is in the sense of immense nostalgia you feel towards the first movie through the reminiscings of the characters - the two of them romanticizing that night makes me think about the incredible highlights of that movie and they were just taking it all in and they stole the wine and the glasses and they were out in the park and god what a movie it was. the pretentious parts…
