though i was genuinely excited for this film, i am also wary of any director who puts ‘visionary’ before their name. and i think my instincts were right in this case.
granted i’m a sucker for relationship dramas and the pairing of zendaya and john-david washington in a b&w picture looks as glorious as it sounds, there’s no doubt in my mind that sam levinson’s narcissism shows. front and center. (especially in the dialogue)
