  This body horror is an exemplary case of 'satire' and 'black comedy' being used interchangeably and incorrectly.

  The Substance is the searing critique of beauty standards and what we would do to attain them.
  Whilst Margaret Qualley gives an unsurprisingly captivating performance, it's the incredibly apt casting of Demi Moore (whom was the subject of scrutiny of 'scandals' surrounding both her body image and age) who leaves everything on the field, guts and all.
