very unsettling. very creepy. very sad. very hard to watch. but after reading a review explaining the double bind and men being trashbags, i appreciate the film more. the last line of the film when she says "im the real one" idk i feel like that's supposed to be a somewhat 'happy' ending, but in my interpretation it was very ominous and the way they animated her smiling back to the viewer made me think that it wasn't the Real mima, if she even exists at this point.
ps i really liked mima's room (her actual room with the fishies)

ofc, we all knew how this was going to end. didn't hurt any less tho! even though it was devastating for obvious reasons, i feel like this movie was sooo comforting. the scenery, ahma's house, how they spoke to each other, praying to guanyin, the chinese new year decorations, all the little things - it reminded me so much of my childhood and it just felt like a cozy warm hug. good to know i wasn't the only one with a fistful of tissues in my hand exiting the cinema:,)
