I haven't watched this film in so long and I'm seeing it from such a different lens as a college student. We are all truly living the same life. It's so easy to get caught up on the idea of somebody and what it could be but reality is so different. The expectations vs reality scene killed me for this exact reason. We can be so hopeful and put our best foot forward, but it really does not matter. Sometimes…

Great movie on illegal immigration in Italy. It’s a must watch if you’re interested at all in the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean. As a Greek, I’ve watched a lot of documentaries about the islands in the Aegean, but this was my first film about Southern Italy.
I think it shows how restrictive immigrations laws implemented by the government don’t often reflect the traditional, humanitarian values of the people (e.g. Martelli)
Some thought-provoking imagery but nothing too original plot-wise.
