“Flames, flames, on the side of my face.”
This is a staple film in my house. The screenplay’s humor is witty, with random bouts of the 70s/80s slapstick humor. The talent pool of actors in Clue go unmatched, from Tim Curry to Christopher Lloyd to Madeline Kahn. Not only this, but the visual and music composition aspects of the film go hand in hand in making Clue an unforgettable watch. (They really do not make scores like this anymore!)
For what it is meant to be, it is a well-executed film and there is a reason it has become a cult classic.
My analyzed review: This film lacked the gothic charm I tend to admire. It missed the whole point of the genre. The not seeing and suspense is what creates the thrill/sense of dread. It traded in this theme for cheap jump scares and a little too much blood and gore.
The first 30-40 minutes of the film were almost painful to watch. I think the reason for this was the lack of character (in the actual characters and the setting).…
This film is worth the watch purely because of Catherine O’Hara.
