Restless River 2019
After reading the book for school, I expected an extremely depressing piece of cinema but what the script has that the novel doesn’t is hope. The character of Jimmy on screen is more nuanced and less spiteful, the ending is sweeter and not as heart wrenching. Perhaps for some people the changes in the cinematographic adaptation make it stand too far away from the novel, but I think the core of the story remains and has evolved into a tale that will be more enjoyable for a lot of viewers.
