    The Grudge

    ★★

    A bunch of interchangeable American
characters are… ahem… terrorised by a lank-haired Marilyn Manson cosplayer with a vocal fry that makes it sound like it’s burping into an electrical fan. And all of this malarkey because someone fucked Bill Pullman.

    Fart.

    The Color Purple

    ★★★

Handsomely mounted, beautifully played by a strong cast, but plays it meek and coy with its themes, and that’s a bit of a problem for a film set in post-Slavery America about a black woman who was basically a sex and domestic slave for a brutish simpleton like Mister. Post Schindler’s List Spielberg probably would have done a better job.

Netflix should make a sequel in which someone has to scale Nirmal’s ginormous balls.

Out of touch elitist and corporate democrat wife of former president in fawning, hermetically sealed documentary about her book tour. Thanks but no thanks.
