The rewatchability is not super high with this one.
I definitely still had fun the second time around, but the movie definitely feels like it drags at times. The structure feels really loose and the resolution was really quick and a little too easy. There were a lot of characters and ideas that didn’t feel fully fleshed out. I think what I admire about a lot of other Bong Joon Ho films is really tight concepts and symbolism, but in this one it was rougher around the edges.
I do still have a fondness for the movie, but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite of his.

This movie is incredible. It’s a perfect blend of comedy with a bit of romance and a lot of genuine feel good vibes. The sense of family is so strong, and pretty much every major character gets their own moment to shine. Cher and Nic Cage’s romance was the main plot, but the little scenes of the older couples really fleshed everything out and made all the characters feel so real.
