this film, more than any other, NEEDED the audience to empathise, immerse themselves and emotionally connect with the character's emotions to be effective. Instead, Akerman puts forth no effort to do so. As a result, the boredom, tediousness and drudgery became a distraction away from Jeanne's life instead of adding to the experience.
