Duh. It was never the point. Sometimes good movies, just like good books, exist simply to be uplifting, to act as fairytales to counteract everyday bleakness. I think for its time it's a truly beautiful movie, teaching the very simple lesson that every human being, regardless of how cruel life has been with them, deserves love and respect.
