god pierce brosnan STILL can't sing. he sings even worse now actually. also actual 100% canon is that the film ends when the screen goes white after the baptism. i wept openly. one of the most poignant depictions of the spiritual experience of motherhood that's ever been filmed and i'm not kidding. also the songs are pretty okay too i guess (they say having auditioned for easily half of their choral invitational experiences with 'thank you for the music' because they love it so much)

one of the best movies (not films! movies.) of all time and i'll take no notes

my favorite song on the included soundtrack CD (when we got the deluxe dvd edition soon after release in theaters) was gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight. which is absolutely a banger and is maybe my favorite abba song of all time. and also understandably disconcerting to hear parroted out of the mouth of your eight year old child

the guys with flippers scene altered my brain chemistry about how much goofiness is required in a man to make them attractive (so much)

genuinely one of the kindest and most honest depictions of visual differences and disabilities in all of television. like, the bar is on the floor, but this is literally a lifechanging film and i'm so grateful to the friend who found a ripped copy of it and stole it from a thrift store and brought it to my house at 11pm and traded letting us watch it with him and some snacks for a place to stay the night

is it perfect? no. is it horror? obviously not. is it a masterpiece? 100000%

watched in (shitty resolution google cardboard phone setup) 3d vr. jankiness of the setup didn't matter, the 3d added immensely to the film.

bias disclaimer: i would follow guillermo into the rift

    that aside:

    - this movie is peak camp. if you don't like the tropes and the bad jokes and the easy bait tearjerkers you're not camp enough. (would love for it to pass the bechdel test for lesbian reasons. it would also be cool if it was slightly…
