Starts off as a basic crime film with a low-class criminal going on a road trip to find somebody so he can be generously rewarded, typically straightforward although Peckinpah's roughness always stands out.
But halfway through becomes a hopeless journey of self-loathing and death, in which our protagonist starts sabotaging his own sanity and becomes so obsessed with a decapitated head that he will not stop until it's done justice to. The head and all the people whose lives suffered…

A profound but very accessible serial-killer flick!! Takashi Miike's signature gore and eccentric camera work blends really well with the intriguing themes, the making of serial killers, and what separates them from us or even each other?? Complex but simultaneously straightforward, this was very entertaining and was perfectly paced. Engaging from beginning to end!!

The Killer 2023
I really enjoyed it when I watched in the theater back in October, but my expectations were so high that it ended up clouding my judgement. Now being able to just sit and appreciate it without being worried if it was gonna go how I wanted it was a lot more satisfying.
