  On second rewatch, one of my favorite scenes was when Kazue (natural born youthful beauty) begins to ascend to the top, we are immediately juxtaposed with shots of Lilico (artificial manmade sultry perfection) descending into madness. Jealousy is really a disease personified in this film. You could be the face that every woman wants, and that still won’t fill the empty pit deepening in your psyche. This film is really sneaking its way into my favorites.
