I did not know what to think when starting this film. I started it and decided it wasn’t really for me. I felt the two characters didn’t seem to match at all, the chemistry didn’t seem to be there. I thought that the heartbreaking idea we have all wished for (at least those of us with hearts torn to shreds 💀) was wasted on this film. How wrong I was! The recurring entrancing melodies at poignant moments of the film…
To sacrifice yourself in your entirety when you have nothing else to give. Is there a love more profound? Arguably, yes, but that doesn’t take away from the power of this movie. Deeply disturbing but I loved it. What a great duo to star in this film and characters were very well cast. This movie is definitely not for everyone but just the heart shape on the cover of the film tells you about how much these two love each other. Wow, I’m gonna give it a rewatch actually
What a powerful movie. So raw and so real. Adrian’s acting was astounding as always, I felt transported into the times. Costumes, music, cinematography, dialogue was all incredible. A long and at times hard watch. A great play on the title of the movie - of course named after the style of architecture yet could also be used in referral to dog eat dog world of American society at the time. And of course adrian’s character himself.
His adoption of his grandfathers accent and demeanor for the film truly gave it an authentic feel that few others could have recreated. A unique watch
This movie is a great watch I would recommend to everyone. Wes Anderson, true to style as always, creates a visually stunning piece of art with a superb cast. Visually, one of my favorite films and a very fun insight into the colours and chaos of India. Beautiful, heartbreaking, confusing and mad, the Darjeeling limited is a movie you won’t forget anytime soon!
