    Underrated gaysian classic. You'll hate everyone in this movie, but that's a part of the fun. Genuinely a pretty sympathetic portrayal of gay men for a 90s movie.
    Big content warning for sexual assault and rape (which is unfortunately played off as "two drunks hooking up.").
    Very excited to see Andrew Ahn's take in spring.

    Visually gorgeous. The camera loves Florida, loves the actors, loves every member of the community in Little Haiti. The writing and acting are just as great. Though the film focuses on Xavier, the father, cuts of the film following Esperance, the mother, and Junior, the son, give us so much with just a little. These character are so full of depth, and it never feels like something is out of place. They are our neighbours, co-workers, friends, community -- they feel so real.

    Do not be fooled: this story seems like it's about misfits from complicated families who find each other. Unfortunately, Call Me Chihiro is so incredibly slow and low stakes that any heartwarming, touching moment turns into a drawl. What could have been a movie about a very interesting woman (nihilistic ex-sex worker with an unknown past) actually is really, quite uninteresting.
