    This entire film hinges on the premise of Jack Quaid's character, Nathan Caine, being unable to feel pain, and Quaid more than rises to the occasion. He is so damn likable in this role, making it easy to root for him while he transforms into an unconventional action hero.     "Superman Returns" was the first Superman film I watched, having a lot of memories of seeing it as a kid. That being said--especially in hindsight--it probably helped in making me think that Superman was a boring character.
