I prefer the artsy-ness and grunge of this show's stage productions. It benefits from DIY, the movie removes much of this aspect. But my major gripes with this movie are really with the music as compared to the original Broadway cast recording. Some examples:

I like Anthony Rapp but his voice here is so blech. Like pop-punk. Pitch perfected vocal strain. This could be a Three Days Grace cover. Jesse L. Martin and Taye Diggs save it.
