  Good news before the bad news, its apparent they tried to do something with this movie and the production certainly shows it with its nice cinematography and sound design.
  However, it was very hard to be scared while watching this movie. The horror scenes where things happen sometimes do not seem to correlate and have no purpose in driving the story. And somehow whenever they tried to surface an interesting plot point it doesn't get anywhere or needs underlying context that we did not see or feel. I could not feel sympathy with any character because of how terribly written and lacking in depth they are.
