Very fun movie that I expected to be more about the heist itself, but was more about its aftermath (guess I should've gleaned that from the title).

Al Lettieri, one of the greatest heels of his era, steals the show. And I didn't expect it to end the way it did. Anything where Slim Pickens shows up is a guaranteed romp, I just wish he got a bit more screen time.

One of the wildest first watches I've had in a while. Somehow walks a fine line between ornate staging and graphic violence and grossness. I didn't jibe with every direction this movie went in, but my god, Michael Gambon plays one of the greatest scumbags ever put to screen. A performance for the ages. And it speaks to Helen Mirren's brilliance that she convincingly played a character who wasn't overpowered by such a noxious presence.

Nimoy is such a goated villain in this. The real question is: was he a pod person from the first time we see him or was he just an asshole who got converted later and managed to act exactly the same?

Donald Sutherland is incredible here as well. That last shot could give anyone nightmares.

This started a bit slower than I remembered, but a lot of the best gags hit one after another in the second half. Leslie Nielsen entering the picture is probably the main hinge point. The guitar scene with the sick girl and everyone succumbing to the bad fish were among my favorites. Some bits have aged better than others, but still one of the classic comedies.
