  I can see why this is influential and it has great cinematography but genuinely this is an awful attempt at mixing a noir/thriller with a saccharine sweet emotional film. the mix genuinely does not work, the acting is super cheesy at times, but worst of all the message doesn't hold up today: the children do not abide any more.
