Poor Things 2023
I’m still trying to process what I watched. Leave your inhibitions at home when you step into the picturehouse to see Poor Things. It’s unlike any other movie, with raw, blunt and honest truths, in a setting belonging to a dream universe of the 1800s. Yet what I liked most is Bella Baxter’s conciousness’ evolution, discovering beliefs and prejudices atemporal of time, representing general truths still valid in our century. It’s intense but innocent, it’s meticulously handcrafted yet not for the faint hearted. Even the performances are out of this world, with Emma Stone delivering a masterclass in probably her career defining role.
