    “I kill people.”
    “I know.”

This movie was fucking insane. Absolutely crazy from moment one. So was the theatre experience, there was a little kid, some lady giving blowies in the corner, and a concerningly  nonchalant adult man.

I digress, this was super good! I got all three promised things— love, lies, and bleeding! Really gory and nihilistic, and had a scum level that’d make John Waters proud! Kristen Stewart nearly made me straight!!

My favorite of recent films. I was gasping, disgusted, and thoroughly entertained. Rose Glass is a true tour de force.

Kind of a tepid, dull Western with a characteristically good performance from Kirk Douglas. Anthony Quinn does well against Douglas (I’ll have to visit their re-teaming in Lust for Life) and Caroline Jones is phenomenal too. But besides those choice performances, there’s nothing too standout. A revenge tale where the woman is reduced nothing to but a victim, the gunfights are long and drawn out, and the ending is unsatisfying.

Oh, but that monologue about being hanged? Oscar-winning.

When Boetticher and Scott are teamed together (aided by an extremely evocative and capable ensemble, and beautiful scenery captured in Cinemascope, colorized by Eastman Color), nothing short of an enjoyable experience can be produced. Ride Lonesome packs a whole lot of action into only 73 minutes.

Though I'm not a big fan of portrayals of Native Americans in older Westerns, Ride Lonesome (while still being a little…

“This real shit is crazy… but I’m exploring it.”

Birthday movie!! And what a picture! It is the most batshit thing ever filmed. Period. I don’t even know how to tackle it— a film about a submissive woman that is also a [redacted for spoilers], who dresses up as a fucking cat? With themes of trans acceptance? With a war-on-drugs B-plot? A bargain bin cast most likely paid in cheap weed and In-N-Out? Full of sex? A script so bad…
