Death Spa 1988
Dude this movie is fucking NUTS. I wasn't totally sober when I watched this thing but it's exactly what I wanted. It's actually made with some integrity, as it's shot pretty well and the writing/directing/acting isn't as bad as it could be (but the main actor kind of sucks). The plot is convoluted and it doesn't go anywhere, though. The twist was something I assumed everyone knew 20 minutes into the movie, so that was confusing.
Some of the kills are quite cool, but just know what you're getting with this. It's classic B-horror schlock, which was just what I was looking for.

This movie suffers from the same problem that many biopics do - they take on too big of a scope, and therefore have to skim through character beats and events, which prevents us from really getting to know the person the movie is supposed to be about. Bryan Cranston is good, as is the whole cast, but it too often comes off as facile and simplistic, and it lacks the bite and wit needed to either fully be a scathing…
