Cinema Paradiso 1988
Ashamed to say that I've only just got round to watching this for the first time. Such a heartwarming, heartbreaking, bittersweet meditation on where life takes you and the sadness of having to move on. The montages of saying goodbye and then returning distill Toto's memories into the simplest, most poignant images.

2025: A Year of Hitchcock, film #9
I wrote a review for this and somehow its disappeared which is annoying. Anyway I really enjoyed this - maybe just the advent of sound but it feels like an actual Hitchcock film. Some genuinely tense and even shocking moments - the assault of Alice, the scene in the cigar shop, and above all the final climactic chase though the British Museum which is visually stunning and by far my favourite moment from…Translated from by

Nosferatu 2024
Went in having heard meh reviews and still traumatised by how terrible The Northman was, but ended up really enjoying this! The visuals are just sumptuous, sound design is… immersive to say the least (SQUELCH) and it is genuinely entertaining - as always Willem Defoe is stealing every scene and Aaron Taylor Johnson’s hammy performance was hilarious (to my great surprise and I’m pretty sure deliberately). Lily Rose Depp can be a bit annoying at times but damn she is GOOD at possession.
