    Porco Rosso

    ★★½

Okay so while Porco Rosso is visually stunning and the music is nothing short of perfect, I found the movie deeply disappointing for several reasons.
    1. The storyline was unsettling. Porco’s relationships with two female characters felt like he was stringing them along
    2. The film left too many questions unanswered, making the plot feel incomplete and unsatisfying.
    3. I was hoping for a father-daughter dynamic between Porco and Fio. Instead, the romantic undertones, especially the kiss had my jaw on the floor

The dialogue dragged on for 10-11 minutes…

    Barbie

    ★★★★½

Barbie is a movie with many different sides, that cleverly intertwines political satire, musical elements, and product-placement while examining themes of mother-daughter relationships, gender performance, and the search for identity. It's not just a typical commercial; it surprises viewers with self-awareness, wit, and genuine emotions. The film questions what Barbie represents—whether she's a feminist symbol or an unrealistic role model—while still celebrating her positive qualities realistically. In the end, Barbie shows how powerful imagination can be and why people create…
