I struggle with how terrible a person the main character is (and apparently the man himself), and some of his actions aren’t forgivable, and it is frustrating that the movie forgives him.
But the wackiness of the dialogue, the scenarios, and the characters kept me really engaged. I didn’t know where things were headed or what past informed their present, and I couldn’t help but be curious to find out.
Also some cool stylistic choices with the lighting, overlays, camera angles, composition, and effects.
Made me think of Sean Baker’s movies, and Midnight Cowboy.
