  There was so much that I loved about this film. Performances from Phoenix and Reeves were incredible and the significance of the subject matter and what it did for queer cinema is brilliant but I just wasn’t sold on the incredibly avant-garde experimental Shakespeare homage vibe… I’ll always prefer films with a solid narrative rather than those which treat plot as secondary to vague artistic and literary references to wider themes.
